"Question: What are we looking at here, folks?
Answer: Two piles of sticks playing hide-and-seek in composter bins
"C'mon people. These black composters are: a) seriously plastic and; b) super expensive.
So: let's use them well and properly.
Putting sticks and big stems into them practically guarantees that no compost will ever happen in your composter, no matter what name you call it. It's not a compost system when it's filled with sticks.
It's an expensiveblack plastic bin filled with sticks. Burn your sticks in a firepit or woodstove or sauna stove. Or, dig a trench at the edge of your garden or yard and put the sticks in there, then cover it with dirt. Or: make a pile of sticks and cover it with soil andplant things in it (that's a hugelkultur bed). Or: fill a yard waste brown bag and put it to the curb on waste collection days. Or: bring them to the Doggie Off-leash park as a donation to their (adorable and oft depleted) "Stick Bank." Just don't put them in your composter.
